This provides children with a broad understanding of world religions that are part of our multi-cultural richness. Children will be encouraged to develop tolerance and understanding as well as an informed appreciation of their own and other people’s beliefs.
All areas described by the Leicestershire Agreed Syllabus for R.E. are covered.
We welcome visiting speakers, and our celebrations of Harvest and Christmas festivals are times for sharing with parents and friends. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from R.E. and should approach the Headteacher if they wish to discuss this further.
Related to the above, spiritual development is supported through the variety of experiences in school which help children to develop a sense of identity and personal worth. This in turn links closely with moral and social education, helping children to develop a sense of right and wrong and a sense of belonging and contributing to family, class group, school and the wider community. Cultural development helps the children to understand, appreciate and respect the diversity of human society and the variety of values, beliefs, attitudes and customs that exist in different cultures. Linked to this we aim to promote equality of opportunity for all, regardless of race, gender or disability.
