Geography is taught through both discrete and cross-curricular topics at Broomfield.
In Key Stage 1, children are taught to consider changes within living memory and lives of significant individuals in the past. In Key Stage 2, children develop their sense and understanding of chronology through local, British and world history.
We aim to give children first-hand experiences and an understanding of the world around them which they can then relate to the world as it was in the past. We develop children’s skills in Geography eg: their ability to use atlases, globes, maps and plans.
Topics are researched using a cross-curricular approach including ICT and English. We enjoy hands-on workshops and trips out of school. These all help to make our learning more real.
